Brief Project Synopsis: |
American State Bank’s project goal is to develop a regional network, the West Texas ASAP to facilitate development, delivery, and dissemination of simulation based curricula by health professional education providers throughout the West Texas region. This project is an innovative way to address nursing faculty development and educational infrastructure in nursing schools as well as hospital partners. The West Texas ASAP will combine and incorporate the use of all existing and future simulation facilities and laboratories into a working network of efficient and multi-dimensional nursing education support that can be accessed by health professionals. Initial members of the Alliance will be the higher education nursing schools and their hospital partners in the fifteen county area of the South Plains that surround Lubbock. This will include the members of the SPNECC and other interested parties. Additional members from the West Texas region (108 counties) will be recruited for the Alliance throughout the grant period and will eventually include all of West Texas. |
Project Goals and Objectives: |
Our goals are to:
- Develop and organize the West Texas ASAP.
- Develop a centralWeb-based database to house a scenario and simulation library.
- Develop, test and deliver simulation scenarios, curricula and training that can be accessed by all Alliance partners and others on a fee for service schedule.
- Provide state of the art simulation training for nursing faculty at all Alliance schools and hospitals in order to infuse individual curricula with the latest simulation techniques.
- Develop guidelines to evaluate student and professional competence using simulation education.
